 Zaheer Khan was born in the Shrirampur city of the Maharashtra state on October 7, 1978. He was named after a popular Pakistan cricket player Zaheer Abbas. He is also called by the nickname Zaks. He is the most successful Indian bowler after Kapil Dev and also third most successful player in the world. He belongs to a middle class Muslim Family. Zaheer Khan Family includes his parents and two brothers. His father Bakhtiyar Khan is a photographer and mother Zakia Khan is a school teacher. He has two brothers, one elder and other younger to him. Both his brothers are engineers. Thus Zaheer Khan family history includes a traditional upbringing but at the same time they respect education and believe in encouraging children to choose career of their choice. After his 12th exam he went to Mumbai for further studies. Here he joined National Cricket Club due to his fondness to play cricket. Sudhir Naik who was the coach there advised Zaheer to take cricket seriously after seeing his performance. Zaheer who was then doing engineering has to quit his studies as both the studies of engineering and playing cricket was very difficult.

Zaheer had a very late beginning in the game of cricket as he started playing only after the age of seventeen. Due to this he has to work very hard to make his position in the area of cricket. He also likes playing tennis. He linked up with the MRF Pace Foundation in the year 1998 where he practiced to establish himself as a fast bowler. He was linked with Isha Sharvani who is also an actress and Indian dancer better known for her difficult dance performances. There were reports of the marriage of the two to take place after the World Cup series. Zaheer Khan Family also wanted their son to settle down after fulfilling his dream to become an established Indian cricketer. Zaheer Khan personal life is not discussed much in the media but there were reports that the couple has decided to end their relationship due to some differences.
